Filtering the crankcase breather system, also known as PCV is a very important part of any performance diesel engine. The crank case gasses contain oil vapour, water vapour, diesel vapour, and exhaust gasses which have passed the piston rings during combustion which is commonly referred to as “blow by”

Filtering these gasses is important, because diesel engines will literally run on anything; oil, kerosene, turpentine, a bottle of your finest cognac even (non of the aforementioned are recommended) and as such this makes them prone to performance degradation where increasing crank case gasses are recirculated back through the engine. Since the engine will burn these gasses and vapours, theys can cause an early combustion process before fuel is even injected. This may not be noticable with stock power levels, however once power is increased, the volume of blow by gasses and vapours increases, causing a higher flow through the breather system. A higher flow, means more unwanted combustables entering the cylinder each revolution, and therefor can become detrimental to power production and increase engine coolant temperatures and intake air temperatures.

These filters will remove all the unwanted combustibles from the intake air stream, resulting in a much more stable engine, and improve the overall performance of the power stroke after each injection. Your usual oil catch cans will only filter around 10% of the breather systems unwanted material, however this system will catch over 90% of the unwanted material, and collect it into an easy to empty container, so you can see just how effectively the system works.

Kit comes as a set of filter housing, vacuum hoses, fixings and fasteners, drip tube and collection bottle, 1, 2 or 3 replacement filters, and adapters of various sizes to enable the kit to fit any vehicle.

Each filter will last between 20,000 and 40,000 km depending on engine age, power level, engine operating temperature etc
